Elliott Ingersoll's brief story and background:

Elliott Ingersoll is a psychologist, licensed clinical counselor, and life coach in Ohio. He is professor of Counseling at Cleveland State University where he worked for 10 years as department chairperson for Counseling, School Leadership & Adult Learning. His research interests span a broad spectrum including psychopathology, mental health diagnosis, psychopharmacology, and spirituality in counseling and psychotherapy. He has authored dozens of academic papers and seven books that include the use of EDT in counseling.

He is the first of a group of certified MAP scorers in the United States.

Elliott, along with Mark Forman and Andre Marquis have pioneered bringing integral theory to psychotherapy. Dr. Ingersoll consulted with Integral Institute (www.integralinstitute.org) as a trainer in the Integral Psychotherapy program and as co-director of the Integral Psychology Center. He has studied and practiced Eastern and Western spiritual and physical practices.

Elliott has been inspired and influenced by the Free Thought movement of the late 19th century and particularly by Robert Green Ingersoll, a leading freethinker of that time. He believes the most important skill for a human being is critical thinking seasoned with compassion. Elliott also is a singer/songwriter and creator of “FreeThought Folk Music” which he performs throughout Northeast Ohio.

His artistic life intersects with his clinical work and his academic work. One of the pieces that really summarizes his work is this TED talk he did on children, violence and psychotropic medication: http://www.tedxcle.com/dr-elliott-ingersoll/ .
